We’re currently looking for a Data Privacy Specialist on a full time, permanent basis.  This is a newly created position sitting in the Professional Conduct team within our Governance directorate.  The role will initially be home-based but with a view to being London office based in the near future. 


The job

On a day to day basis, you’ll be involved in the following:

  • Implementing and maintaining data governance and privacy tools such as data dictionary, data inventory and data quality score card
  • Raising awareness of data governance and data privacy by fostering a culture that values, protects and processes information and personal data in compliance with legislative requirements
  • Co-ordinating all stages of individual rights requests received by the Governance directorate in particular external Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)
  • Collaborating with the Privacy Office, other data owners and data stewards to implement and monitor data governance and privacy projects and/or ad hoc tasks related to data life cycle management, retention and classification 


The person

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has knowledge of data governance and privacy standards, and an appreciation of their importance to the effective operation of disciplinary and regulatory arrangements
  • Possesses a good understanding of effective data governance in the delivery of directorate and organisational strategic objectives, including transformation programmes and projects
  • Has the ability to develop data governance and privacy expertise and lead others on it
  • Has experience in implementing/interpreting policies and standards, and gap analysis (regulatory, operational) 
  • Is inquisitive, detail focussed and highly organised (project management skills are advantageous though no formal qualification required)
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels
