ACCA have an excellent opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join the team, based in Yangon, Myanmar. The Business Development Manager plays an essential role in ensuring recruitment, conversion and retention of FIA and ACCA students through to membership by developing business and relationships with universities and Approved Learning Providers (ALPs) in Myanmar. The role will drive sustainable growth and enhance the reputation of ACCA by ensuring the appropriate infrastructure is in place to provide quality tuition and being at the forefront of recruitment activity at universities, learning providers and schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of Myanmar education and learning strategy and business plan with a specific focus on student and member growth and building awareness of the ACCA brand and value proposition with quality universities and learning providers
  • Use agreed criteria, defines which universities and learning providers should be targeted, and ensures a sales pipeline is managed, understanding the potential contribution each university or learning provider could make to targets and strategy
  • Assume ownership for all key university and ALP relationships in Myanmar, developing multi-level relationships, including top to top engagement and engages CHQ and other markets to the relationship where appropriate, with the target of growing the number of students and graduates progressing to ACCA studies and membership
  • For universities, raise awareness of the ACCA qualification and drive sustainable student recruitment through presentations and other similar campaigns; increase the number of exemptions, supporting them with the accreditation process and increase the number of FIA embedded programmes
  • Develop a network of ALPs in Myanmar ensuring that outstanding service and support is given to ALPs; providing advice and guidance to tuition providers wanting to start teaching the ACCA Qualification and become ALPs and co-operating on ACCA promotions
  • Promote and communicates to the universities and learning providers in Myanmar, changes or updates to the ACCA qualification, new products and assessments and support them in adopting them
  • Work with the education specialists in ACCA to increase the quality of education provision in Myanmar and monitor performance in order to ensure the highest standards are met
  • Negotiate marketing activities and plans and incorporate ACCA’s promotional ideas into university and learning provider plans
  • Obtain and maintain the integrity of organisational information including key stakeholders, students of the relevant learning providers, contact details and history
  • Report regularly on progress via the appropriate reporting mechanisms on agreed targets
  • Understand the implication of economics, market trends, developments in the education sector, activities of key competitors and product and service developments from ACCA on the strategy for universities and learning providers and able to apply it to the specific situation/requirements of targeted universities and ALPs
  • Actively support the wider work and initiatives of ACCA Myanmar and ACCA
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and review of the procedures/ systems and other duties relevant to the job purpose that may be assigned by the Head of ACCA Myanmar

Required Skills and Experience

  • Educated to a degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Public Administration, or similar studies and/or equivalent work experience
  • Holding a professional accountancy qualification is desirable
  • Commercially oriented and results driven with demonstrable experience in business development, key account management and business-to-business selling, ideally in an educational or training based environment
  • Understanding of the issues and challenges facing the educational environment and accountancy sector in Myanmar is desirable;
  • Excellent prospecting, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build long term, high quality, trusted relationships up to, and including, Deans of Universities and Board level
  • Highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic; able to work independently
  • Plans, organises and prioritises work to be able to set and meet stretching targets and strict deadlines and within agreed budgets
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in line with ACCA values and mission
