We’re currently recruiting for a Paralegal to join ACCA’s in-house Case Progression team in London. 

 

The job

On a day to day basis, you’ll be involved in the following:

  • Conducting investigative work and legal research to ensure cases are trial ready in advance of committee hearings
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports within strict deadlines
  • Drafting and amending witness statements and exhibits of documentary evidence, reports of disciplinary allegations, instructions to Counsel, skeleton arguments, agreed statements of fact, indexes, chronologies, interlocutory applications, file notes and other documents as required
  • Communicating (by telephone and in writing) directly with members and their representatives, complainants and their representatives, witnesses, members of the public, and other third parties such as local and international regulatory and other professional accountancy bodies and law enforcement agencies, ACCA’s solicitors and/or Counsel and ACCA colleagues
  • Compiling, photocopying and distributing document bundles for use at disciplinary, regulatory and appeal hearings 

           

The person

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is educated to at least degree level.  A law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC), Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) or CILEX qualification/s would be considered an advantage
  • Has recent paralegal experience in any legal discipline / experience of handling a legal case load
  • Has proven legal research skills and the ability to effectively analyse information and identify the salient and/or contentious points
  • Previous regulatory law experience and/or knowledge of the legal framework in a regulatory environment would be considered an advantage
  • Possesses strong written communication skills to provide concise, clear and accurate documents
  • Possesses excellent oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills to deal with people at all levels and to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
